The most common mistakes of the authors of the thesis

The first mistakes students make when writing their diploma or bachelor thesis in the very beginning of their work – when choosing a topic. There are several explicit beginner mistakes in this area: the topic is formulated either too broadly, from a bird’s eye perspective (although the required number of pages can be well fulfilled, however, it is difficult to reach concrete conclusions, the work usually has no practical benefit), or the topic is on the contrary, it is formulated too narrowly – no important context is taken into account. The ideal situation is a compromise – a sufficiently specific topic that allows the author to present analytical thinking and which will be applicable in practice. Unnecessary advice may seem to focus the topic on the field of study, but practice shows that students often tend to write about something their field of study did not pay at all, or only marginally – such work is both opponents and commissions unacceptable.

The title of the thesis must also correspond to the title, which must be brief but concise – it should present the content of the work as best as possible, it must be unambiguous and precise in terms of terminology. For this reason, it is advisable to formulate the title to the very end of the work – only when the whole text is finished, it is clear what problem was solved and what conclusions the author came to, the time is right for definitive title creation.

A common problem with qualifications is the expertise of the style used. The student must express himself / herself with the right terms, level, without emotive color, soberly – some thesis is written fictionally, which is a serious mistake. It is impossible to conceive everything that is interesting on the topic – it is necessary to strictly follow the defined problem and the text should be directed purely to achieve the set goal. Thinking should be logical, coherent, and expertly based – general phrases and lengthy sentences, that is to say, a non-slipping sauce, whose purpose is simply to stretch a few dozen more characters.

The mistakes that a student can make in writing a diploma and qualifying thesis are many – from formatting, through quotes, graphic work, creating methodology, implementing research, or drawing conclusions. Obviously, not all of them can be avoided, but many of them can be prevented or additionally eliminated – it is highly desirable that someone else still read the final work, who is able to look at it soberly and notice what its author is doing for repetitive reading no longer “sees”. The web also offers such control, rectification or correction of diploma or bachelor thesis errors.
